Lisa Vittozzi still on podium, Dorothea Wierer ninth
Lisa Vittozzi second
Here comes another great performance by Lisa Vittozzi in the women’s World Cup sprint in Kontiolahti. The Sappada-born member of the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri, already third in Wednesday’s individual race on the Finnish track, was the protagonist in the shorter format race with a second place of absolute value, which comes almost two years after her last placing in the specialty, won in Oestersund in March 2021.
The author of a mistake in the ground series, Lisa definitely revved up her engine in the second and third laps, putting up a fantastic zero in the standing series, thanks to which she climbed up from 42nd partial place to place of honor. A placing that earned her the yellow bib as leader of the overall standings in the pursuit on Sunday, December 4, with a 20-point lead over Norway’s Ingrid Tandrevold (135 vs. 115). On this occasion she was beaten only by Austrian Lisa Therese Hauser (no mistakes) with a time of 20’39″5. Completing the podium was Sweden’s Linn Persson at 24″ with zero errors, on a day that also smiles on Italy for the placings of the other athletes directed by Klaus Hollrigl. Dorothea Wierer, still struggling with a nagging cold, placed ninth with a standing error but only 34″9 from the winner, and promises to be a protagonist in the pursuit. Just as well went young Rebecca Passler, who never did so well in the cup with a 17th place and a zero on the polygon. Also qualifying for the pursuit were Samuela Comola (44th with one mistake) and Michela Carrara (53rd with three mistakes).
