Congresswoman Maria Clemente García Morena has proposed a measure against Argentina striker Messi
Lionel Messi still at the center of controversy in Mexico: a few days ago, the Argentina striker had come into the crosshairs of boxer Canelo Alvarez, who had accused him of stepping on the Mexican national team jersey in the locker room. The boxer had later recanted, apologizing to the Pulce, but the controversy has continued: congresswoman Maria Clemente Garcia Morena has proposed declaring Lionel Messi a person “not welcome” on Mexican soil.
“The Chamber of Deputies urges the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue the relevant Declaration in order to declare persona non grata in the territory of the United Mexican States the citizen of Argentine and Spanish nationality, Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini, due to his manifest contempt and disrespect for Mexico,” is the proposal the politician launched in Parliament.
