Tammy Abraham nabs AC Milan in full recovery: 2-2 at San Siro
Ibañez and Abraham turn around a race that seemed over
Called upon to respond to the successes of Juve and Napoli – and to nibble two points on Inter, which was stopped in Monza on Saturday – AC Milan threw away a victory that seemed to be in the bag by being caught up by Roma in the last minutes of the game.
The first half-hour is quite balanced. The Giallorossi lineup, on paper offensive with the simultaneous presence on the field of Pellegrini, Dybala, Zaniolo and Abraham, does not sting much, suffering just enough. The balance is broken in the 30th minute on an occasion that is usually one of the strengths of José Mourinho’s formation: set pieces. Indeed, from a corner kick comes Kaluu’s winning shot, on which Rui Patricio does not appear irresistible.
In the second half Roma tried to straighten out the match, but it was more smoke than fire. AC Milan controlled without fretting, and thanks to an offensive transition masterfully led by Rafael Leao found the doubling goal signed by Tommaso Pobega, well paced by the Lusitanian striker. At this point the Giallorossi had a proud reaction, finding the 2-1 goal with a header by Roger Ibañez in minute 87.
It seems too late, but the Rossoneri come in struggling and Roma believe. And it was precisely from a sharp free kick put in the middle by Lorenzo Pellegrini that the resounding equalizer ensued.Tatarusanu was miraculous on Matic’s header, but he could do nothing on Tammy Abraham’s acrobatic rebound, which sent the Diavolo to hell, giving the Giallorossi a draw that was as prestigious as it was unhoped for.
