Givova Scafati remounted, Attilio Caja peremptory: “Modest offensively”
Trieste Basketball – Givova Scafati 64-59
The first away trip of the new calendar year did not smile on Givova Scafati, which was outscored 64-59 at the Allianz Dome at the hands of hosts Pallacanestro Trieste on the fourteenth and penultimate day of the first leg of the A League championship.
A good Pinkins was not enough for the Agro team, which failed to maintain a high level of performance on the court, equal to that of recent engagements. Yet, for about three quarters of the game, despite the bad day on the shooting and low shooting percentages, Coach Caja’s boys had given the impression that they could dominate the opponent. Instead, the latter had the merit of believing in it more and being more lucid, toned, determined and riotous in the final part of the match, in which instead Rossato and partners appeared tired and cumbersome.
Attilio Caja, Scafati’s coach, spoke at the press conference and made a very objective analysis of what was seen on the court: “From the offensive point of view we played a modest game, because the numbers say we were not brilliant, and the same is also true from the physical point of view. With the energy available we were quite attentive on defense, making a commendable effort, but on offense we were not up to the mark, with several players below 30 percent of scoring. Beyond the merits of the opponent, their 29 free throws in spite of our 11 constituted without a doubt the statistic that tipped the scales on the side of the locals. Otherwise, the shooting percentages between us and Trieste were almost similar,” he concluded.
