Marcelo Nicola explains the -19 in the derby against Trieste
After the second heavy defeat in a row for the NutriBullet (-19 in the Northeast derby against Trieste, coming a week after the -29 in Pesaro), Marcelo Nicola spoke in a press conference trying to explain what is behind the momentum of a team that only two weeks earlier won another derby, against Venice, in convincing fashion.
“We definitely never managed to put the game on the right tracks,” said the Biancoblù coach, “we were too anxious from the start and we suffered the physicality of the opponents without being able to counter it. Some triples were forced, we generally struggled to make a basket. There is little to say when you take 88 points at home while making only 69.”
“The salvation struggle? We need to work on our mentality, when we play with a light head we are effective, but when we get anxious it becomes more difficult,” Nicola concluded.
