Strike in the three-quarter for Daniele De Rossi’s Spal: the Estense club made official the purchase of Greek player, already seen in Serie A with the Genoa shirt, Ioannis Fetfatzidis. The player arrives from the Qatari club Al-Sailiya. The statement from the Estense club: “S.P.A.L. announces that it has signed midfielder Ioannis Fetfatzidis on a contract until June 30, 2024.”
“Born in 1990, of Greek nationality, Fetfatzidis grew up in the Youth Sector of Olympiakos, a team with which in October 2009 he also made his debut in the Souper Ligka Ellada, the top Hellenic league. With the Piraeus team he played four consecutive seasons, during which he put together 55 appearances and eight goals, winning three championships and two national cups and making his debut in both the Champions League and Europa League. In 2013/2014 he moved to Genoa, ending his first year in Serie A with 31 appearances and 2 goals, both of which were decisive in the Rossoblù’s victories against Lazio and Roma. After his experience at Chievo Verona in the second part of the 2014/2015 season, in the following summer he moved to the Al-Ahli club playing in the top Arab league, the Saudi First Division. He played in the team from the city of Jeddah for three years, collecting 68 appearances and 15 goals,” continues the note released by Spal through its official channels.
“In 2018/2019 he returned to wear the Olympiakos jersey, while in the second half of the season he switched to Aris Thessaloniki, collecting a total of 56 appearances and 7 goals in his experience with the yellow and black jersey between Souper Ligka Ellada and Europa League. At the beginning of the 2020/2021 season, he moved to Al Khor Sports Club, a team in the Qatari Stars League, with which he put together 45 appearances and 13 goals in two seasons, while in the first part of the current sports season he played in the ranks of Al-Sailiya Sports Club, also in the top Qatari league. Fetfatzidis has, in addition, taken the field in 27 games with the Greek national team jersey, also scoring 3 goals. In 2014 he was part of the Hellenic selection that participated in the World Cup held in Brazil, taking the field in the first two matches played by Greece against Japan and Colombia. In biancazzurro he will wear the number 11 jersey,” the statement concludes.
