Karamoh knocks out Udinese, Torino can dream of Europe
A narrow victory, however, that fuels important dreams of glory.
Torino victorious over Udinese in a direct clash, allowing Ivan Juric’s granata to hoist themselves to seventh place in the standings. That, should Inter win the Coppa Italia, could guarantee access to next season’s Conference League. Yann Karamoh’s goal in the 49th minute for the 1-0 final was decisive.
Torino already tried insistently in the first half to find the winning goal, with Schuurs dangerous on Linetty’s free kick, Ola Aina trying to set up Karamoh, Vojvoda trying from distance and Buongiorno inaccurate with a header in the box. In the minutes before halftime Silvestri twice opposed the inspired Karamoh, but nothing could at the start of the second half.
In fact, in the 49th minute the Ola Aina-Karamoh axis is reactivated, with the former finding the latter ready in the area for the underhand deflection. The Var validates the goal, and only at this point Udinese attempts a reaction: just Ola Aina saves everything on Samardzic, then Perez kicks high on the developments of a free kick. However, Torino is ready to react, so much so that Miranchuk and Vlasic go close to doubling the score. In the midst of the recovery it is then Silvestri who bars the door to Adopo, in a final match that remains in strong granata colors.
