Federico Pellegrino ready for seventh world sprint
Federico Pellegrino’s words
We are just hours away from the start of the World Cross-Country Ski Championships in Planica. The first scheduled races will be the sprints in classic technique that will see the Italian captain, Federico Pellegrino, on the track. Here are his words a few hours before the races.
“I am approaching my seventh senior world sprint, after 12 years since Oslo 2011. It’s a good feeling to be on the eve of a World Championships feeling competitive. The preparation went well, including the last period: we did everything we set out to do. Today we did some pre-race training and I had some good feelings. The track is not very long, but it is quite hard: surely a determining factor will be the snow given the warm weather forecast for the next few days. Running in the afternoon will need to be able to read that factor as well. I think it’s a good quartet that will be on the track on Thursday, and I think we can put in some good performances.”
For Italy men, in addition to Pellegrino, the following will be competing: Francesco De Fabiani, Simone Mocellini and Davide Graz. In the women’s field, the following will compete: Nadine Laurent, Iris De Martin, Nicole Monsorno and Cristina Pittin.
