Roland Garros, Novak Djokovic in third round: Fucsovics fights back but not enough
Novak Djokovic in the third round of Roland Garros
No surprises in the last match, in order of time, played on Wednesday at Roland Garros: in fact, Novak Djokovic defeated Marton Fucsovics in three sets, thus earning access to the third round of the Paris competition.
7-6(2), 6-0, 6-3 the score in favor of the Belgrade champion, who was only put in trouble in the first set when the Hungarian was able to recover three games of disadvantage, taking the fraction to the tie-break. From there, however, Nole literally dominated, first winning the mini-game to bring home the set, and then winning the next fraction without conceding a single game to his opponent, number 83 in the ranking. The third set was also a formality, despite a good start by Fucsovics, who was able to lead 2-1 before collapsing inexorably.
Djokovic thus advances to the next round, where he will find Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina, who beat Luca va Assche (in turn Marco Cecchinato’s executioner) in three sets.
