Fiorentina: a new facility dedicated to Davide Astori
Fiorentina will name one of the two facilities within the future Viola Park, the futuristic sports center being built in Bagno a Ripoli, south of Florence, after Davide Astori. This was announced last night by president Rocco Commisso during a gala dinner held in the refectory of Santa Maria Novella, the proceeds of which were donated to research into arrhythmogenic heart disease, the condition from which the purple captain who died prematurely on March 4, 2018, suffered.
”I didn’t know about the president’s decision to name one of the two facilities at Viola Park, but I was sure he would do something because he is a kind-hearted person,” commented current captain Cristiano Biraghi, who also spoke about the last two engagements that will see the Viola take the field, first in the league against Sassuolo and then next Wednesday’s Conference League final in Prague against West Ham. We will do everything tomorrow to pick up points with a view to eighth place and also because a good performance and a good result can give us confidence for Wednesday’s big challenge. We come from two important and positive years with Italiano, now it is right to try to bring home a trophy after trying unsuccessfully in the Italian Cup final.”
