US Open, scare for Nole Djokovic vs. Serbian friend
Second comeback in eight previous for Djokovic
Djokovic won a pass to the fourth round at the U.S. Open where, awaiting him is Croatian Gojo but, to pull it off, he sweated the proverbial seven shirts. Blame Djere, also a Serb, who put him to the test, forcing him to a real feat to bring home the victory and qualification to the successful round.
Djere, Djokovic’s Davis Cup teammate, has è trained with him many times. The two are friends, and Djere, therefore, knows well how to try to get the world No. 1 in trouble. And, indeed, the first two sets saw Djere winning (6-4, 6-4). Djokovic fought back like a champion, winning the next three sets in peremptory fashion: 6-1, 6-1, 6-3. The victory è came after about three and a half hours of play.
For Djokovic, this is the eighth time he has è gone down two sets at the US Open. The record was not encouraging: 1-6. However, this time, Djokovic found a way to come back and avoid defeat. His current record in five-set matches è now stands at 38 wins and only 11 losses.
