Boca Juniors è qualified for the Copa Libertadores final by eliminating Brazil's Palmeiras and on Nov. 4 will face another Brazilian team, Fluminense, to try to win the tournament for the seventh time.
After the 0-0 first leg in Buenos Aires, the match was decided on penalties after regulation time ended 1-1 and from the penalty spot the Argentines prevailed 4-2. One of the protagonists of the match at Allianz Parque in Sao Paulo was Uruguayan Edinson Cavani: the author of the first goal on 23'of the first half, then equalized by his compatriot Joaquin Piquerez in the middle of the second half, the former Napoli striker missed the first of the penalties.
The mistake è was made up for by Argentine national team goalkeeper Romero, who è managed to parry two of the Brazilians’ four shots, thus securing Boca’s success. The Argentine team played almost half an hour of the second half in numerical inferiority due to the expulsion for double admonition of defender Rojo, who was, however, pardoned early in the second half when the referee avoided red after a dangerous entry on an opponent, who was hit in the face by his studs.
In the final, at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, Rojo will then cheer his team from the stands as they hunt for their seventh trophy, while rivals Fluminense dream of winning their first Libertadores Cup title at home.
