Marc Marquez sets next step toward comeback
Marquez takes stock of his recovery plan
After Pol Espargaró’s rant and the ill-feeling also expressed by Stefan Bradl about Honda’s competitiveness in this MotoGp season, the Japanese manufacturer has relied on its champion, Marc Marquez, at the communication level, first by making official his presence in the pits in Austria in support of the team, and then by publishing on its official channels a series of statements from the eight-time world champion.
“It’s a critical moment for Honda,” Marquez said, “I’m talking a lot with the team, we’re trying to understand what’s happening with the 2022 bike: that’s why I’m going to Austria. We all work together: that means that as we win together, we also lose together. With the previous operation I had strayed a little too far, this time I want to stay involved: everything will have to be perfect when I come back.”
And Marquez also talked about his return, without setting a specific date but announcing the next step: “At the end of August I have another medical checkup, if it goes well we can take a step forward with rehabilitation and really start thinking about the return. Some days are better than others, but that’s normal. I’m optimistic, but I don’t want to say too much about the timing before the checkup at the end of the month.”
