Giulio Zeppieri’s progress at the Internazionali San Marino Open, a Challenge Tour tournament with a prize pool of 67,960 euros, came to an immediate halt.
In the last match of Tuesday’s program, completing the first round, the No. 143 ATP, the tournament’s third seed, was eliminated with a score of 2-6 7-6(2) 6-1, in two hours and four minutes, by Monegasque Valentin Vacherot, No. 388 in the world rankings.
Thus there are six Italian tennis players in the second round: they are Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Giustino, Marco Cecchinato, Francesco Forti, Matteo Gigante and Alexander Weis.
