Monza is already thinking about the next Champions League
Monza in Champions League
Well-deserved rest for the MINT Vero Volley Monza, officially on vacation after the’exciting Scudetto Final played against Sir Susa Vim Perugia ,which saw the Umbrians win the title in the’last act of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2023-2024. The salute to the fans, to gather the embrace of their people to a team that has thrilled all the fans of Brianza and beyond, è was the icing on the cake of this season, before looking forward to the next adventures.
In fact, for the first time in its history Monza will dispute the top continental competition of the CEV Champions League, after the European adventures of 2018/2019, when the Brianzoli lost in their own CEV Challenge Cup Final against the Russians of Belgorod, of 2021/2022, closed with the historic triumph in France against Tours in the CEV Cup (second cup in importance and first European title for Vero Volleyball in the men’s sector), and the CEV Challenge CUP faced this’year and which saw the Consortium’s flagship team defeated by Projekt Warszawa in the Final.
The team led by Massimo Eccheli (fourth consecutive season on the Monza bench for him) managed once again to amaze its fans, finishing at the end of the regular season in fifth place, and against all odds by getting the better of, in the Playoff Series, Cucine Lube Civitanova in the Quarterfinals and Itas Trentino in the Semifinals, giving way only in Race-4 of the Final to World Champions Perugia.
Determination and character: these are the qualities the Monzese have never lacked, not even when the inevitable difficulties of a long and tiring season arrived. Vero Volley è has always been able, despite the defections suffered along the way (Takahashi’s injury and Maar’s absences for the key matches against Trento), to react and climb back up the ladder with patience and personality.
After closing the first round in fourth place, Vero Volleyball è made itself the protagonist of the resounding ride of the Del Monte Coppa Italia weekend – after defeating Civitanova in the Quarterfinals at the’Opiquad Arena -, which saw the Brianzoli struggle to the’last against the “usual” Perugia, cannibal this season with four trophies won. Closing the regular season in fifth place, the Lombards, gave outlasted in five games the Cucine Lube Civitanova in the Quarterfinals of the Credem Banca Scudetto Play Offs. The positive trend seen in the Quarterfinals then allowed the Monzese to place a trio of victories in the confrontation with Itas Trentino in the Semifinals after a monumental series in which Eccheli’s boys managed to win after being down 2-0. For MINT Vero Volley Monza it will be a summer of great relaxation and happiness, in view of the next exciting sporting year to be lived between Italy and Europe.
