Matteo Picchio returns to Monza

Matteo Picchio will be a player of MINT Vero Volley Monza. For the libero monzese class 2000, in last season at Pool Libertas Cantù in the A2 Series, it will be a welcome return to the club where he grew up.
Picchio è a player born and raised volleyball at the Vero Volleyball Consortium, a reality with which he played all youth categories, from minivolleyball to the Under 18, until the transition to the first team, which occurred for the first time in the 2018/2019 season. A great precision in reception, which also earned him the award for best libero of the Trofeo delle Regioni 2016, is one of the characteristics that the Monza player will put at the disposal of Massimo Eccheli’s roster, going to complete the department with Marco Gaggini, another product of the Vero Volley youth sector.
Matteo Picchio approached volleyball in 2007, practicing minivolleyball until 2009, in Pro Victoria Monza. With the Monza club he then played the Under 12 championship. In 2012 è moved to the Under 14, remaining in this category until 2014, the year in which è moved up to the Under 15 with Volley Milano. Born as a setter, then switched to setter, Picchio started as libero in 2016 at the Trofeo delle Regioni with Lombardy, a competition in which he received the award as best player in this role. After an Under-17 year in 2015/2016, in the following two seasons the Monza-based libero played with Vero Volley Veneto Gas & Power Under-18, before landing at Gi Group Monza in SuperLega. In 2019/20 Picchio was part of the Robosystem Concorezzo roster in Serie B, then moved up to A2 with the Pool Libertas Cantù jersey. In 2021/22 he landed at Top Volley Cisterna in A1, before returning to Cantù in A2 for the last two sport seasons. Now, for the player from Brianza, the great opportunity to play again in the top national category with the club that has seen him grow.
