GeVi Napoli, Woldetensae arrives: ‘I want to win’
Woldetensae lands in Naples
Generazione Vincente Napoli Basket has announced that it has signed a two-year agreement, with bilateral exit option at the end of the first season, with Tomas Woldetensae, a 196-cm, 1998-born Bolognese guard/winger.
Tomas began to make a national name for himself in the youth sector of BSL San Lazzaro. In 2016 he moved to the U.S., to Florida, where he attended Victory Rock High School, while in 2018 he landed at Junior College in Indian Hills where he was named POY of his conference (ICCAC) and where he was included on the NJCAA First Team All-American.
The value of his performance did not go unnoticed, so much so that Woldetensae received a call from the reigning NCAA champions, the Virginia Cavaliers, a lineup with which he showed off thanks to excellent shooting percentages (39.4% from 3 and 43.2% from 2).
In the 2021-22 season he returned to Italy in A2 in Chieti, a team with which he averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 assist per game, before moving to Varese. Woldetensae with Varese Basketball played as a star in three seasons 68 games scoring an average of 9.8 and 9.5 points per game in the first two, while in the one just past he averaged 4.9 points per game.
His explosion led him in 2022 to be called up to the Italian national team where he collected 8 appearances while scoring 19 points and also playing in the 2023 World Cup qualifying games.
"I would like to greet all the Neapolitan fans. I am very excited to start this new adventure. The colors are new, but the will to win è the same. Forza Napoli!" said the Parthenopean newcomer.
