Jannik Sinner still on top: Carlos Alcaraz is outspoken
Carlos Alcaraz sincere about number one
After his triumph at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaraz gave an interview to the microphones of ORM Deportes in which he also spoke about Jannik Sinner, still at the top of the ATP ranking: "È the most consistent. He has won a Grand Slam and several Masters 1000s and, except at Wimbledon, è always made it to at least the semifinals. I think he still deserves to be No. 1".
At the moment, the South Tyrolean, at 9570 points in the rankings, has a lead of 1110 points over Novak Djokovic, second at 8460, and 1440 points over the Spanish champion, who occupies the third position in the world rankings at 8130: "We will see at the end of the year what will happen and whether he can be higher".
The next appointment for the blue and the Murcian is the Paris Olympics. "I am particularly excited about the Paris Games,” Alcaraz admitted, “and I want to see if I can win Olympic gold, both in singles and doubles (paired with Rafa Nadal)".
Sinner will also be engaged in both the singles and doubles draw, paired with Lorenzo Musetti. The Olympic tournament, which will be played on the clay courts of Roland Garros, è scheduled from July 27 to Aug. 4.
