Here's when Jannik Sinner returns: the goal è banish bitterness
The bitterness over the faded Olympics still hasn't dissolved, but Jannik Sinner is already looking to the future and planning the second part of his so far excellent 2024. The disappointment over the missed Paris experience will have to be washed away with victories and good results during the upcoming tournaments in North America, all in preparation for the US Open, another crucial goal of the world number one’s season.
Jannik Sinner is expected to return to the court as early as the first week of August, at the Montreal Masters 1000: the Azure must defend the victory he won last season at the Canada Open. A tournament he would almost certainly have skipped if he had participated in the Olympics.
After Canada it will be the turn of Cincinnati (where in 2023 he came out in the first round), then the US Open, the last Slam of the year scheduled for late August.
To wipe away the bitterness Sinner will have to improve on last year's result at Flushing Meadows, when he stopped in the round of 16 against Zverev. Another goal of Jannik Sinner è to maintain the number one spot in the ATP ranking until the end of the season: not an easy task, considering that in the last part of the year he will have to defend many points.
