The Trapani Shark places a resounding blow under the levers. The Sicilian club, in fact, announced the signing of German center Tibor Pleiss from Anadolu Efes. Born in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, the 1989 class è a modern center known for his imposing stat and ability to shoot from outside.
He began his youth career with RheinEnergie Köln, making his professional debut in the 2006/07 season. From the start, Pleiss showed tremendous potential, emerging as one of the best talents in German basketball. After his beginnings in Germany, Pleiss played for several prestigious European clubs, including Brose Bamberg, with whom he won three consecutive German championships from 2010 to 2012. During the 2011/12 season, he maintained an average of 10.1 points, 6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game in the Bundesliga.
In 2015, Pleiss embarked on an NBA adventure, signing with the Utah Jazz. During the 2015/16 season, he played 10 games averaging 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds per game, while also spending time in the D-League with the Idaho Stampede. After the overseas experience, Pleiss è returned to Europe, signing with Galatasaray in Turkey for the 2016/17 season. He then continued his European career with Valencia Basket (2017-2018) and finally with Anadolu Efes, where he has been playing since 2018. With Anadolu Efes, Pleiss achieved notable successes, winning the EuroLeague in 2021 and 2022. In the 2022/23 season, Pleiss maintained an average of 6.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in the EuroLeague.
In the 2023/24 season, Tibor Pleiss played 23 games again with Anadolu Efes in the EuroLeague, registering an average of 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, with an excellent shooting percentage from the field of 52.3 percent, an outstanding three-point accuracy of 43.5 percent and a free-throw accuracy of 88.9 percent. Pleiss è has also been a pillar of the German national team, representing his country in numerous international competitions, including the European Championships and World Championships.
His personal trophy cabinet includes: 2 Euroleague, 3 German championships, 3 Turkish championships, 4 German Cups, 1 Turkish Cup, 2 German Supercup, 1 Spanish Supercup and 3 President’s Cups.
