US Open, Aryna Sabalenka too strong for Lucia Bronzetti
Predictably, Lucia Bronzetti, world number 76, è was eliminated on the Louis Armstrong Course by WTA number 2 Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-3 6-1 in just 61 minutes of play in the second round of the US Open women’s singles.
Bronzetti held well in the first games of the match but in the sixth she lost the serve with Sabalenka converting the first chance she had and shortly afterwards she closed the partial without any problems after Lucia è managed to hold another serve.
In the first game of the second set the 25-year-old Rimini native climbed back from 0-40 but soon after gave up in front of a fourth break point. Lucia lost another serve in the third game and the series of consecutive games by the 26-year-old from Minsk stretched to five.
On 0-4 Bronzetti finally holds serve but then on 1-5 she has to surrender on the first match point even on a short ball of her opponent, a very unusual shot for Sabalenka.
