Former women’s national team coach Giampiero Ticchi is the new coach of Virtus

“Virtus Segafredo Bologna announces that it has reached an agreement with Giampiero Ticchi.

Born Nov. 4, 1959, in Pesaro, the coach from the Marche region takes over the leadership of the V Nere women’s team.

A former coach of the women’s national team in the three-year period from 2008 to 2011, he qualified after a 10-year absence at the European Championships in Lithuania in 2009, winning the Gold Medal at the Mediterranean Games in the same year.

The last team Ticchi led was the women’s Reyer Venezia, in the 2019-2021 biennium, with which he won the scudetto, bringing the tricolor back to the lagoon city after a 75-year fast in the final against Schio.
