In the morning è the route of 'll Lombardia presented by Crédit Agricole' was unveiled, 252 km long, with eight legendary climbs and a finale to be experienced. This is followed by a short plain that leads into the Lake Como area, which is climbed from Lecco to Onno where the race turns and faces the classic climb to Asso (“the Onno”) and thence to Ghisallo from the less difficult side. Descent to Bellagio and then along the coast to Nesso. Here begins the hardest climb in Lombardy, from Nesso to Colma di Sormano. A 13-km climb with gradients up to 11 percent on a sometimes narrow road with numerous hairpin bends.

The very fast descent is hairpin bends and ends in Maglio. An all-slight downhill section follows to reach Como where the race will face’the last asperità. Past the town of Como to climb San Fermo della Battaglia (m 397) to descend on Como to the finish line.
