Marco Materazzi dreams of a Valentino Rossi-style Inter and stings Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Former Nerazzurri defender Marco Materazzi gave Gazzetta dello Sport a long interview on the eve of the derby between Inter and Milan. Here are some excerpts, particularly the passages in which he explains why he’s dreaming of an Inter team like Valentino Rossi and launches a jab at Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"I dream of the seventh consecutive derby victory, I dream of another snub. I dream of an’Inter doing like Valentino Rossi, who when he arrived at Yamaha invented everything to win the first race”.

“He was riding a bike that he would not have won even when pushed. But instead he succeeded. And that success was an incredible signal given to his opponents, as if to say ‘this is who è the champion’. Taking three points on Sunday would be something complicated for rivals in the Scudetto race to digest, a hard blow".

“Usually è it is a disadvantage to approach the derby in this way, usually those who are worse off win. But let’s talk about’Inter. We are talking about a team that for the past two years è the strongest ever in Italy: no matter who plays, the identity è è always that. Manchester è was exemplary in this sense".

“Ibrahimovic said that è the boss and that he is in charge? Mah, it doesn’t make any impression on me honestly. Let’s say they are words that are part of the character. It comes to me to say this, as an Inter fan: I hope AC Milan never gets Paolo Maldini back…".
