AJ Griffin leaves NBA to follow the word of Jesus

"I decided to leave basketball to follow Gesù"

Money and fame are not everything, at least for AJ Griffin. The 21-year-old former Duke man, chosen with the No. 16 call at the 2022 Draft, has decided to leave the NBA (and basketball) at just 21 years old. News that has left many stunned.

AJ Griffin (father Adrian è was, himself, a player and, now è coach in Minnesota) had all the makings of a more than decent NBA career. Under contract with the Houston Rockets, he gave up a guaranteed $3.9 million contract for the 2024/25 season to follow his calling, which is to answer the call of Gesù.

"I made the decision to leave basketball to follow Gesù. I understand that, for many, this may seem like a defeat, but I just wanted to let you know that I am overjoyed with my choice because I will now have the opportunity to really serve the Lord", his clear words reported by Sky Sports.

The'former Duke then added: "I realized that by continuing to play, I could not really dedicate myself to what I want to do". Said, done. AJ Griffin, at just 21 years old, has decided to leave the'NBA in order to give himself completely to Jesusù
