Fifa, ad hoc window for Club World Cup

The Fifa Council unanimously approved the new regulations for the 2025 Club World Cup. There'è one novelty: è was introduced the possibility for national federations of participating clubs to open an extra market window for all their affiliated clubs from June 1 to 10, 2025.

"The FIFA Council has unanimously approved the Regulations for the FIFA Club World Cup 2025,” reads the FIFA statement, “which seeks to resolve technical inconsistencies and compensate for differences in registration periods and national season schedules among participating clubs to the greatest extent possible, while providing flexibility to the relevant FIFA Member Associations".

"Under the regulations, FIFA Member Associations of clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup will have the option of opening an exceptional registration window from June 1° to June 10, 2025 (for all their affiliated clubs) before the start of the competition. The decision whether or not to open an additional window remains at the total discretion of each FIFA Member Association concerned"

"After the deadline for the submission of call-up lists expires, because the contracts of some players will expire in the middle of the competition, participating clubs will be able to replace players during a restricted period in competition, from June 27 to July 3, 2025, within a predetermined limit and according to specific limitations, including the fact that a “standard” registration window must be open for the club at that time. However, the goal è to encourage clubs and players with expiring contracts to find an appropriate solution to facilitate player participation" closes the note.
