Jannik Sinner starts off with a bang in Shanghai and responds to Carlos Alcaraz
The Azure won with a dry 6-1, 6-4
Jannik Sinner debuts at the Shanghai Masters 1000 with a convincing victory. After losing the final in Beijing, the Italian shows that he has not lost confidence in his means and is still in excellent physical (and mental) condition. The challenge with Taro Daniel ends in one’hour and 17 minutes of play. The blue dominates from the beginning of the match, closing with a dry 6-1, 6-4.
World No. 1 start for Jannik Sinner. At 2-1 in his favor, comes the first break. Taro Daniel could not keep up with the blue’s very high pace and suffered another break. The first set ends 6-1 in just 22’ of play. For the Japanese, never a chance to get into the match.
The 31-year-old Taro Daniel tries to shake it off in the second set. At 2-1 for the Italian, he manages to bring the game to 40-40 but the world number one does not get distracted and closes with a screaming ace. Taro Daniel has the merit of not raising the white flag. The world number one, however, goes on autopilot and closes the second partial 6-4.
Excellent answer by Jannik Sinner to Carlos Alcaraz who, in his debut at the Shanghai Masters swept Shang Juncheng with a dry 6-2, 6-2. The feeling è that, as happened in Beijing, they are still the two best tennis players on the board. Mind you, being, respectively, number 1 and number 3 seed, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, should they continue on their path in Shanghai, would face each other in the semifinals.
