Martina Trevisan-Anna Bondar 7-6 6-2

Martina Trevisan’s journey continues at the Jiujiang WTA 250. After her victory in the opener over Hartono, the Tuscan tennis player repeated herself against Hungarian Anna Bondar, world number 97, defeated with a final score of 7-6 6-2 after almost two hours of play.

After only three games the match was halted due to rain with Trevisan ahead 2-1. After about three quarters of an hour it is back on the court and the balance lasts until 5-5 when Bondar takes the serve away from the Italian. Another brief rain interruption, however, sends the Hungarian into a tailspin as she loses her serve to zero. At the tie-break, it is played point-to-point until 4-4, then Martina places the decisive stretch (7-4).

In the second set, the Hungarian took the blow, giving up the serve in the fifth game after being ahead 40-0. Trevisan went up 3-2 and repeated the break in the seventh game thanks to a double fault by Bondar with which she finally surrendered and then closed on the final 6-2.

Trevisan thus flies to the quarterfinals of the 'Jianxi Open' in which she will face Slovak Rebecca Sramkova, number 53 in the WTA ranking and second seed in the seeding.
