The words of Angelo Binaghi

Italian Tennis and Padel Federation President Angelo Binaghi spoke about Jannik Sinner’s victory over Novak Djokovic in the semifinals at the US Open in the interview with SuperTennis: "Congratulations to him, his team and his family. In 23 years I had never come to Australia, this è the first time and I would say I chose the right edition. We have two finalists: the Bolelli-Vavassori pair in men doubles and Jannik in singles".

"Sinner could have also won in three sets but he still outclassed and overpowered the world number 1, on the court and in the Slam in which he performed better than anyone else. I am a fan. Our girls always knew it in the decade between 2005 and 2014. Now I have to divide myself between the boys and the girls, and let’s not forget Jasmine Paolini who had a great tournament here-I think there is great room for improvement" in our women’s tennis.

"The impact of winning the Davis Cup was not only on the national tennis movement but on the whole country. Millions and millions of people discovering tennis, and maybe they will have pulled an all-nighter to see Jannik, è something that had never been seen in Italy,” he said. “Thanks to our athletes, but also thanks to tens of thousands of federal coaches, masters, managers, tennis è has become a popular sport that involves great masses and gives great emotions".
