MotoGP, Malaysia: Pecco Bagnaia the fastest in pre-qualifying
Out of the top 10 Pedro Acosta
After recording the best time in Free Practice, Bagnaia è also took home the best time in pre-qualifying. The reigning World Champion a stopped the clock on'1'57"679, at the end of a truly (almost) perfect lap. Behind him Jorge Martin, the world leader (+17 against the Italian rider of Ducati).
It should be noted that Jorge Martin, after a couple of really high profile laps, è slipped, compromising his final session. However, both on the race pace and on the flying lap, the Spaniard proved to be very fast, although Pecco Bagnaia responded blow by blow.
Enea Bastianini recorded an excellent third time, almost two tenths off Pecco Bagnaia’s best time. Also entering the top 10 are Mark Vinales, Alex Marquez, Fabio Quartararo, Franco Morbidelli, Alex Rins, Jack Miller and, with the final tenth time, Marc Marquez.
Remaining out of the Top 10 for Q2 are both Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi. Clearly, the Bagnaia-Martin duel è the focus of attention. The Italian has è distinguished himself well so far but the Spaniard has not disappointed either. In short, the challenge è wide open with both riders who seem to want to go over the top in Malaysia. The World Championship is at stake.
