Roma doesn’t go: only 1-1 with Union Saint Gilloise

Roma did not go beyond 1-1 against Union Saint-Gilloise in the match valid for the fourth day of the Europa League. At the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, everything happened in the second half: the Giallorossi took the lead in 62' with Mancini but were retaken by the Belgians with Mac Allister just over ten minutes from the end.
Union Saint-Gilloise got off to a strong start and after just two minutes put Roma into a tizzy with a violent conclusion by Khalaili that grazed the crossbar. On 17’ hosts still dangerous with a Sykes header just wide to Svilar’s left. Roma responded on 33’ with Pellegrini but his volley è too central. In the final another chance for the Belgians with Niang who kicks hard at the first post but Svilar è careful.
At the start of the second half the Giallorossi came close to the lead at 52' with Baldanzi but his left-footed shot slammed against the post. Ten minutes later Roma took the lead: a cross from Pellegrini for Mancini who anticipated Moris and put in the goal. The Belgians però reacted and on 77'found the equalizer with Mac Allister who put in the net after Svilar fell out. In the final, Union went close to the breakthrough but Svilar saved everything on Ait El Hadj.
With this draw Roma climbs to 5 points in the standings, momentarily moving up to 16th place. Small step forward for Union Saint Gilloise, which moves up to 2 points, to 30th place.
