The Words of Poet

Germani Brescia coach Giuseppe Poeta spoke to the Brescia Newspaper about his quick transition from the court to the bench: “Does anyone make the criticism that I didn’t make the roster? All the remarks make sense. But I think I had a path not unlike many colleagues, even from other sports, who are on prestigious benches today. After all, I have been involved with basketball since I was six years old. I was a player and then, when I became an assistant to Messina at Olimpia Milano and to Pozzecco in the national team, I had the opportunity to learn at a very high level. The great thing, then, è that the field doesn&#39t lie. Especially if you are a player. That è the beauty of sports. È meritocratic”.

Poeta then analyzed last week’s knockout loss against Trapani: “In my opinion, games are almost always the result of 50-50 factors. For half; we played a match against the previous ones, which were very good, and for half; our opponents were very good. Trapani took the game to the tracks that are more conducive to it. My grandfather always told me that the difference è a matter of tables. If you know how to play trump, you have to bring others to play trump. If you know how to play broom, you have to get them to play broom”.

And now on Sunday there will be the trip to Cremona: “With Vanoli it will be a very uncomfortable game, against a team that has a very solid defensive system. At home, Cremona has lost three games on the last shot…”
