Vincenzo Santopadre joins Lorenzo Sonego’s staff
After a decidedly up-and-down 2024, Lorenzo Sonego is already beginning to lay the groundwork for the new season. During an interview given to the microphones of the "Stampa", in fact, the Piedmontese tennis player announced the first news, namely the part-time hiring of Matteo Berrettini's former coach Vincenzo Santopadre.
"Vincenzo will give us a hand in the training phases in Turin and sometimes in Rome although he remains Van Assche’s coach. In tournaments, Fabio Colangelo and Davide Galoppini" will continue to follow me.
The blue tennis player began.
"I met him in tournaments when he was coaching Berrettini and immediately established a beautiful human relationship with him. I have great respect for him both as a person and as a coach. I still want to invest in myself and I believe that Vincenzo is the right person to add something new to my game, creating the right synergy with the team" added Lorenzo Sonego.
Confirming the start of the collaboration was Santopadre himself during a speech to "Tennis Talk": "Yesterday we had our first training together. This new collaboration stimulates both of us. I won't deny you that I was a bit excited to embark on this new adventure. The thing I like è that there's always been a great mutual esteem as people between Lorenzo and me and now we have to add the professional part to complement our relationship.
He will have to find times and ways to ensure maximum support for both Sonego and Van Assche. Certainly it will beà difficult for me to guarantee a high physical presence for Lorenzo, but what I hope è that Luca can grow in the rankings also to be able more easily to follow both of us. There'è a lot of work to do but we are not scared".
