Giorgia Collomb fails to repeat in slalom

After her triumph in the giant slalom, Giorgia Collomb failed to repeat in the women’s slalom at the Junior Alpine Skiing World Championships in Tarvisio. The skier from Valle d’Aosta, despite a positive second run, was unable to go beyond fifth place 76 hundredths behind Sweden’s Cornelia Oehlund, who won the gold medal.

Completing the podium were the two Austrians Leonie Raich and Nathalie Falch, who were 18 and 30 hundredths off the lead respectively. Wooden medal, however, for Esther Nordberg, 56 hundredths away from her compatriot.

Sixth place went to Norway’s Christina Jacobsen (+0.82) and seventh to Switzerland’s Faye Buff (+0.84), with both regaining eleven positions in the second run. Eighth was American Kjersti Moritz (+0.87), who was ahead of Emilia Mondinelli (+1.01), who was nevertheless good at recovering seven places in the second run.

Second run to forget for Ambra Pomarè, who finishes in thirteenth place losing seven places. Finally, Giulia Valleriani closes in fifteenth place, paying a gap of more than a second and a half from Oehlund.
