Giro d’Italia 2025: triumph in stage 12 for Dutchman Kooij

The 12th stage of the Giro d’Italia ended with the victory of Dutchman Olav Kooij. The stage in question saw the route go from Modena to Viadana. There were two GPMs in this stage, but they did not create any particular problems for the cyclists.
From the first kilometers to stand out in an early breakaway were Epis of Arkéa, Andrea Pietrobon of Team Polti VisitMalta, and Manuele Tarozzi of VF Group. The group let them go, but controlled. Tarozzi managed to win both of the day’s GPMs.
In the final kilometers, the most active team for its sprinter is undoubtedly Soudal Quick-Step. But standing out is Visma working for Kooij. The classification men all position themselves at the front of the peloton to avoid crashes. In the last kilometer of the stage there is a crash at the back of the peloton. Kooij follows close behind Van Aert until with not even two hundred and fifty meters to go there is the decisive breakaway. He launches a sprint of intelligence and power and wins stage 12 of the Giro d’Italia. Second is Van Uden, who tried to get ahead. Third was Turner of INEOS. Mexican Isaac Del Toro retains the pink leader’s jersey.
