Roland Garros: good first for Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori

Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori are off to a successful start at Roland Garros. The Italian pair, third seed in the mixed doubles draw, beat in two sets (6-4 6-3) the duo formed by Taiwanese Hao-Ching Chan and Hugo Nys of Monaco after one’pra and twelve minutes of play.
The Azzurri started off strong (2-0) but suffered an immediate reaction from their opponents (2-2) who even went on to lead 4-3 and serve. Here, however, Errani/Vavassori strung together three consecutive games and won the first partial.
The Italian team won the first set.
In the second set, however, it was only one break that made the difference: the third seed took the serve away from Chan/Nys in the eighth game (5-3) before closing on serve at the second useful match point (6-3).
Thanks to this success, Errani and Vavassori advance to the round of 16 of the mixed doubles at the Paris Slam where they will face the winners of the challenge between Wu/Verbeek and Jiang/Galloway.
