Club World Cup: Bayern tops Boca and puts it in trouble, Esperance beats LAFC

The World Club World Cup 2025 matches played on the Italian night between Friday and Saturday ended with two narrow victories. As for Group C, Bayern Munich defeated Boca Juniors 2-1, the first South American team to lose a match in the new rainbow review, while in Group D, Tunis’Esperance got the better of Los Angeles FC 1-0, eliminating the latter from the competition.
The eyes of the fans were inevitably glued to the challenge at the’Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, where Bayern Munich tried to make the difference right from the first minutes: Michael Olise’s goal at 8′ was canceled by referee Faghani for a foul on the development of the action, but Harry Kane′ s goal at 18′ was very regular and the Bavarians thus took the lead.
In the second half, Boca’s response came from Miguel Merentiel, who made it 1-1 at 66′ at the end of a quick vertical action, but in the final minutes, more precisely at 84’84’, Olise found the right stroke to give Bayern victory and arithmetic qualification to the round of 16. In the last match against Benfica, a draw will be enough to seal first place, while Boca will be forced to beat Auckland City by scoring as many goals as possible, hoping that the Portuguese emerge defeated from the challenge against Kane and co.
In the match played in Nashville, however, Los Angeles FC had two goals cancelled out in the first half (one to Giroud and one to Bouanga), while the North Africans grew minute by minute and, after being denied a penalty after on-field review at the beginning of the second half, went through on 71′ with a goal by Belaili, who was good at getting past Lloris at the end of a personal initiative in the penalty area. In the very long recovery LA has the opportunity to equalize, but in minute 111 Bouanga misses the penalty of the possible equalizer. It ends 1-0, Esperance still in the running, LAFC eliminated.
