Marc Marquez immediately in front in Assen’s first free practice, fourth Pecco Bagnaia

It was Marc Marquez, despite a crash, who set the fastest time in the first free practice of the MotoGP-class Dutch Grand Prix at the Assen circuit.

The Spaniard of Ducati, the World Championship leader, lapped in 1’32″216, ahead of compatriot Maverick Viñales, on KTM, by 313 thousandths. Third was Marco Bezzecchi on an Aprilia, 354 thousandths behind, and fourth at 393 thousandths was Pecco Bagnaia, Marquez’s teammate.

Fifth place for Fabio Di Giannantonio on the Ducati VR46, sixth the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo on a Yamaha, seventh Alex Marquez, Marc’s younger brother, on the Team Gresini Ducati, eighth the Frenchman Johann Zarco on the best of the Hondas.

At 3 p.m. there will be pre-qualifying time, which will determine the top ten directly qualified for Q2 tomorrow without going through Q1.
