At 9 p.m. Italian time, weather permitting, Inter will take the field against Fluminense. Up for grabs is a pass to the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup. Chivu has lost Frattesi for good (injured, he has returned to Milan), but he will be able to count on Thuram who, at last, seems recovered and ready to contribute.

“We will have to be ready. We will have to drop right away into what the match will offer. We have a precedent that gives me hope that we&#8217ll be ready and up to it. They, too, dropped into the competition immediately, already from the draw with Dortmund: we will have to have our antennae straight about any mistakes and try to make as few mistakes as possible, but at the same time try to take advantage of the opponents”s mistakes, Chivu”s words.

The feeling is that Chivu will go for the tried-and-true 3-5-2 with Lautaro Martinez, so far determinant at the Club World Cup, along with his own lifelong partner, namely Thuram, ready to make his debut in the tournament.

“Marcus Thuram has been training with us since we came here to Charlotte. He has had two good trainings and he has got over the pain, then it will be up to me to choose whether to start him from the’beginning”, the Nerazzurri coach&#8221s own commentary. Clearly, the best version of Inter will be needed to overcome the Brazilian team of the’unstoppable Thiago Silva, former Milan.
