Italrugby women towards the World Cup: in 34 for new gathering

With the most important appointment of the year, the World Cup scheduled in England at the end of the summer, getting closer, the activities of the women’s national rugby team continue.

Before the rainbow event they will also play two international challenges, on July 25 against Scotland and on August 9 against Japan. The next stage of the Azzurre’s preparation, however, will kick off already between July 7 and 12, with the third gathering scheduled in the program drawn up by coach Fabio Roselli.

In Parma, the venue for the training meeting, there will be 34 athletes: 32 of them are officially summoned, two invited. The summoned athletes are Ilaria Arrighetti (Stade Rennais Rugby), Alia Bitonci (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Gaia Buso (Rugby Colorno), Beatrice Capomaggi (Villorba Rugby), Giada Corradini (Rugby Colorno), Alyssa D’IncĂ  (Villorba Rugby), Giordana Duca (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Valeria Fedrighi (Rugby Colorno), Alessandra Frangipani (Villorba Rugby), Elisa Giordano (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Francesca Granzotto (Unione Rugby Capitolina), Laura Gurioli (Villorba Rugby), Isabella Locatelli (Rugby Colorno), Veronica Madia (Svincolata), Sara Mannini (Rugby Colorno), Gaia Maris (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Aura Muzzo (Svincolata), Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Alessia Pilani (Svincolata), Alissa Ranuccini (Svincolata), Beatrice Rigoni (Sale Sharks), Sara Seye (Ealing Trailfinders), Francesca Sgorbini (ASM Clermont Rugby), Michela Sillari (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Desiree Spinelli (Benetton Rugby Treviso), Emanuela Stecca (Villorba Rugby), Sofia Stefan (Svincolata), Emma Stevanin (Valsugana Rugby Padova), Sara Tounesi (Svincolata), Silvia Turani (Harlequins), Vittoria Vecchini (Valsugana Rugby Padova) and Beatrice Veronese (Valsugana Rugby Padova).

The two invited rugby players, however, are Natascia Aggio of Valsugana Rugby Padova and Alice Fortuna of Rebels Rugby VI East. The Azzurre, coming off a decent Six Nations in which they had two successes, against Scotland and Wales, will therefore return to Parma for training after having already taken part in two rallies in Formia.

As for the World Cup, Italy has been placed in Group D with France, South Africa and Brazil, which they will face respectively in Exeter on August 23, York on the 31st and Northampton on September 7. The goal is to finish among the top two to advance to the quarterfinals: France is the favorite in the group, Italy and South Africa are considered at the same level while Brazil is the possible outsider.
