Diego Nargiso bluntly on Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

For Diego Nargiso, a finalist with Italy in the 1988 Davis Cup, the one staged Sunday at Wimbledon will certainly not be the’last chapter in the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Speaking to ‘Radio CRC’, the’former Neapolitan tennis player in fact expounded on the dualism between the top two in the ATP rankings, which he believes is destined to characterize the coming years.
“There are no great players on the horizon who are on the level of Alcaraz and Sinner – explained Nargiso -These two guys are clearly the most continuous and the strongest. What is more, they are also two completely different tennis players who can further improve by playing one against the other. This duality will become more and more pronounced”.
“Sinner“s victory at Wimbledon – added the’former Italian tennis player – can only be equated with Marcell Jacobs’s success at the Olympics. These are victories that remain in the history of the sport, of tennis and also of Italy. When Sinner starts playing and commanding, it is hard for anyone to keep up with him”.
The Wimbledon men’s tournament final marked the end of Carlos Alcaraz’s winning streak in head-to-head matches against Jannik Sinner, after five consecutive wins, the last two of which were in May in Rome and June in Paris. The tally on the major circuit is now five wins for Sinner and eight for Alcaraz, nine if a challenge at the Alicante Challenger in 2019 is also counted.
