Fiorentina, curtain rises on new season: Stefano Pioli doesn’t hide

The Fiorentina season began with the team presentation at Viola Park on Monday evening. Great expectations, among others, for coach Stefano Pioli, who was a player in Florence between 1989 and 1995 as well as a coach between 2017 and 2019, before his long experience at AC Milan and the less fortunate interlude at Al-Nassr.

The coach from Parma was greeted by the chorus “Pioli is on fire” (to the notes of “Freed from desire” by Gala), which accompanied him at AC Milan in particular in the 2021-2022 year, the Scudetto year: “I am overjoyed to be back – began Pioli, speaking to the microphones of ‘Sky Sport‘ -. I want to thank the club, it is good to be here again: Florence and Fiorentina have in great significance for me”.

“Our goal – added Pioli – is to give our best, to get great satisfaction in the season that is about to begin. Born in 1965, Stefano Pioli won the 1993-1994 Serie B championship with Fiorentina as a player, while as a coach he has experienced two very different seasons: in 2017-2018 he led the Viola to eighth place, in the season tragically marked by the death of Davide Astori, while in 2018-2019 he was exonerated after 31 games, with the team in tenth place.
