World Championships, Enrica Piccoli and Lucrezia Ruggiero silver in the freestyle duo

The queens d’Europe take the world podium: Lucrezia Ruggiero and Enrica Piccoli are silver medalists in the artistic swimming double free, at the World Championships in Singapore, with 278.7137 points.
Only surpassing them were Spain’s Lilou Lluis Valette and Iris Thio Casas, who scored 282.6087 points to win the gold medal. Bronze went to Russians (competing without a flag) Mayya Doroshko and Tatiana Gayday (277.1117).
Ruggiero and Piccoli are reigning European champions in the specialty: in early June in Funchal, Portugal, they did better than Valette and Thio Casas, the very ones who beat them today.
For both it is the sixth world medal: Piccoli has put together four silvers and two bronzes, Ruggiero two golds, three silvers and a bronze.
