Varese Basketball has a new point guard: Stefan Moody

Pallacanestro Varese

Through an official note, Varese Basketball announced the signing of Stefan Moody, who will wear the red and white Openjobmetis jersey next season. Moody is a point guard with leadership and experience (gained through many seasons played in Europe), capable of both triggering his teammates and finishing at the basket for himself both from distance and approaching the iron. Last year he played in Turkey (Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli) putting up 12.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game on average.

“We are thrilled to announce the signing of Stefan Moody – admitted general manager Maksim Horowitz -, a player on whom Zach, coach Kastritis and I had been working collaboratively for several months. He is a veteran point guard who will bring to our cause a lot of experience, accumulated over the years spent between Europe and Asia. He knows the importance and level of our A Series and we are confident that he will be an important pawn for our team”.

Born in Kissimmee, Florida, on Oct. 6, 1993, Moody spent his college years between Florida Atlantic University, Kilgore and the University of Mississippi where, year after year, he significantly improved his statistics until he averaged 23.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in his senior season. In the 206-2017 season, he began his Pro career in Turkey, at Trabzonspor, and then moved to Greece where, with the Rethymno jersey, he starred in an excellent season closed with 15 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.

The following year he wears the Tsmoki-Minsk jersey with which he makes his FIBA Europe Cup debut (16.5 points and 3.3 assists) while between 2019 and 2021 he plays for DEAC, in Hungary, with once again important figures (15 points and 5.2 assists per lace-up in his second season). In 2021-22 he returned to do well in Greece (Ermis Agias Larissa), confirming the following year in France in the Chorale Roanne jersey. After the 2023-24 season in Bosnia with Igokea (a team with which he played in the BCL), Moody tried his hand in the Chinese league (Qingdao and Nanjing Tongxi Monkey King) and then returned to Turkey where he played for Merkezefendi Belediyesi Denizli.
