Lucia Bronzetti continues her journey at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati. The Romagna native, world number 61, overcame in three sets Daria Kasatkina, number 15 in the seeding and 17 in the WTA ranking, with a final score of 6-3 1-6 6-4 after almost two hours of play.

After an initial exchange of breaks, Bronzetti got a new break in the sixth game (4-2) but Kasatkina recovered it immediately (4-3). The third attempt, however, is the good one: Bronzetti takes away the Australian&#8217s service for the third time in the eighth game and then closes the first set on serve (6-3).

In the second set, the Rimini player drops physically: after saving three consecutive break points in the second game, the Azure suffers a partial break of five consecutive games: 6-1 Kasatkina that takes the challenge to the third and decisive set.

In the last partial Bronzetti broke the balance in the sixth game, going ahead by a break (4-2). Kasatkina, however, doesn&#8217t let up and finds the hook at 4-4. A new final stretch by the Romagnola is decisive: Bronzetti wins the last two games and earns the third round at the ‘Cincinnati Open‘ where she will take on Latvia&#8217s Jelena Ostapenko, number 23 in the seeding and 30 in the ranking.
