New twist at Wimbledon: Dimitrov also withdraws
Dimitrov surrenders
A very full Tuesday at Wimbledon. Grigor Dimitrov also dropped out. After winning the first set the Bulgarian was losing the second to Steve Johnson when he raised the white flag and retired.
Dimitrov, a semifinalist in 2014 at Wimbledon, had exited in the opening round of the tournament only three times in his previous 11 appearances.
On the London grass, the Balkan and the American had already played each other in 2015 (Dimitrov passed the round with a convincing 3-0 win over his rival) and 2016, and on that occasion Johnson won (in four sets).
