Reduced from their first-round success against Olga Danilovic and Anastasia Potapova, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini face the round of 16 of the Cincinnati tournament with renewed enthusiasm as far as women’s doubles is concerned. The Italian golden couple aims to break a negative period, characterized by two consecutive second-round exits, in Wimbledon and Montreal.

Between the two Italian athletes and a place in the quarterfinals in Ohio is a level singles pair formed by Poland&#8217s Magda Linette and Denmark&#8217s Clara Tauson. In the previous round, the latter prevailed in a super tie-break against Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls: 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 the final score.

The match will be played on Court 10 of the Lindner Family Tennis Center, the tournament venue, and will be the last in a four-match series that will start at 12 p.m. local time, 6 p.m. in Italy, with the resumption of the match between the Guo/Panova and Muhammad/Schuurs pairs interrupted Tuesday due to bad weather. In all likelihood, therefore, the challenge involving the Italian women will start late Wednesday evening in Italy, if not later than midnight.

In Cincinnati, Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini are seeking their ninth title win together, their fourth since 2025. This season, the two blues have already asserted themselves in Doha, beating Jiang Xinyu and Wu Fang-hsien in the final, in Rome, defeating Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens in the final act, and at Roland Garros, where they beat Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic in the deciding match.
