When Jannik Sinner plays at the U.S. Open: background with Kopriva

Jannik Sinner prepares for his US Open debut: the Italian tennis player, undefeated on concrete in Grand Slam tournaments by 21 matches, will make his debut against Czech Vit Kopriva. The world number one, back from the virus that stranded him in the Cincinnati final against rival Carlos Alcaraz, has fully recovered and is ready to lay down his law on the fast courts.
Kopriva, current world number 88, is making his overall debut in the US Open main draw. The Czech has never crossed paths with Sinner before: the match is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 26, at a time yet to be determined.
In the meantime, the Blue continues his training program: he will have a session with Marin Cilic later today. The South Tyrolean in the press conference was very charged but also guarded: “Here it matters a lot whether you play day or night. There are so many little details that make this Slam different. For example, we sleep in the city and it takes an’hour to get there. These are small things, but if you don”t handle them well, it becomes difficult to play at the highest level”.
On his condition: “Physically I feel good. I had a virus in Cincinnati that other players had as well. I have recovered almost completely, not 100% yet, but we aim to get there in a couple of days”.
