Convincing victory of Italy in the second game of the European Basketball Championships against Georgia: the Azzurri, defeated in the debut by Greece, won clearly 78-62 over the selection of Tbilisi, which had crashed Spain in the first day. After this success Pozzecco’s team rises to three points joining Georgia, Bosnia and Greece at the top of Group C.

After a very balanced first half that ended 32-32, with a lot of shooting errors on both sides, the Azzurri in the third quarter stretched with a 13-0 partial run that allowed them to manage the rest of the game in command, also counting on a longer bench than the opponents and taking advantage of a Shengelia in a decidedly bad day (zero points and eight shooting errors).

The best of Pozzecco’s team were Saliou Niang with 15 points, Simone Fontecchio with 14 and Momo Diouf with 13. For Melli, 8 points and 8 rebounds. Georgia’s top scorer Bitadze (22 points) was not enough. Only five minutes on the court for Danilo Gallinari, who was late in condition.

Italy will be back on the court Sunday night against Bosnia.
