Avellino wins, Paolo Bianco berates Monza: "Lacks tenacity"

L’Avellino surprised Monza, beating them 2-1 at the Partenio-Lombardi stadium in the match that opened the Serie B third-day program Friday night. For the Irpini it was the first success in this championship, for the Brianzoli a bad setback in a path that in the hopes of team, club and coach aims at a return to Serie A. And at the end of the game was dry the analysis of Paolo Bianco, coach of the biancorossi.
In the lead at 32′ thanks to an own goal by Azzi on Simic’s initiative, Avellino secured the victory thanks to an extraordinary reverse by Russo at the 87’87; which made Alvarez’s goal useless in the recovery. But Bianco’s postgame focus was mainly on his Monza side. “Maybe we are a Ferrari, but tonight we didn’t prove it” were the Brianzoli coach’s stern words.
“We must roll up our sleeves, lowering ourselves as soon as possible into the reality of this Serie B. Tonight Monza did not express its real value, but we have to adapt to these dynamics and this level of competitiveness. Because, wherever we go to play, tough challenges will await us” was Bianco’s warning to his team.
There is no shortage of compliments for Avellino. “We played against a team that took the field with more grit, determination and desire to prevail – added Bianco. We may have more quality, but without the necessary aggressiveness, you can’t take games home. They deserved to win, who come from complex seasons and know what it means to fight with tenacity”.
